Patriots on Track for Record-Breaking Super Bowl 52

New England Patriots have the chance of carving a sixth super bowl win to equal the achievement of American Football champion of champions Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Patriots will line up against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52 in Minneapolis on February 4 for this year’s showdown.

Patriots won last year’s super bowl by beating Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime.

They reached this year’s show piece by taming Jacksonville Tigers 24-20.

Meanwhile, the Eagles thrashed Minnesota Vikings 38-7 in the other semi-final, with fill-in quarterback Nick Foles throwing three touch downs.

Foles in limelight

Vikings would have been the first team to play a super bowl at their home ground if they had won.

Foles has only recently found himself in the limelight following an injury to regular Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.

Quarterback Tom Brady inspired the Patriots to an astounding comeback and has fired the passes in each of his team’s super bowl wins. He already holds the individual record of winning the most super bowls with five championships under his belt.

Brady, played with stitches in his hand following a training ground incident, but still completed 26 of 38 passes for 290 yards, with138 yards coming in the fourth quarter.

“We said whatever it takes,” said brady, 40. “That was a great second half. I’m just so proud of our team. Amazing.

Super Bowl perennials

“It’s pretty crazy. It’s amazing to be on a team that wins games this way. It’s so great.”

Foles, who took over as Philadelphia’s quarterback last, completed 26 of 33 passes for 352 yards as the Eagles scored 38 unanswered points in a rout.

“This moment, it’s unbelievable. It’s humbling,” he said.

“The team was amazing. I’m a little speechless. It’s amazing soaking this all in. We all believe in each other. Everyone was against us. We came in here and came out with an amazing victory.”

Super Bowl 52 is the 10th time the Patriots have lined up for the championship, including three of the matches in the past four years.

Besides winning Super Bowl 51 they also took Super Bowl 49 by beating Seattle Seahawks28 to 24.
